Weekly Game Day Procedures

  • Umpires should aim to be at the courts at least 15 minutes prior to the start of your game. Please allow for busy traffic and queues for parking at Canoon Road complex.
  • Umpires (including SB and INJ) proceed to the STI tent (in front of Courts 1 and 4) to sign your name on the Umpire Sign-on sheets and to find out which court you have been allocated to.  If you don’t sign-on, then you will not be paid.
  • Standby (SB), Injury (INJ) and Reserve (RES) umpires are then to report to the KNA Umpire Shelter (next to Court 4) and stay there until released.  SB and RES umpires are usually released 5 minutes into the game if not required.  INJ umpires should remain there for the duration of the game.
  • SB and RES umpires that are allocated to a game, should return to the STI tent after umpiring the game, to alter the Sign-on sheet. This way you are paid a full game instead of SB rate.
  • RES explanation: You may find when you get to the courts you have been allocated as a RES umpire, even though you were due to umpire. This occurs when the grade you have been allocated to has a Bye and so there is a spare umpire. Reserve umpires are the first to be allocated to a game requiring an umpire. If you do not umpire, you will be paid as a SB.
  • If you are sick or injured on game day (or there is an unforeseen circumstance delaying you to the courts) please contact Claire Hall on WhatsApp (new for 2022), so she can contact the SB or find a replacement umpire.
  • Please note that the club can be fined $50 each time an umpire or SB does not show up.
  • Umpire dress standard: STI club uniform (UB/LD); STI white polo shirt over club uniform (MD); Full whites – white shirt and white skirt (HD and National umpires).  NO track pants/leggings.
